Happy Village Projects
As a result of divided field structure due to inheritance, the average field per Turkish farmer is 6 hectares whereas it is almost double for an European farmer. Due to this fact, ISIK  focused on a regional “Happy Village Project” strategy, rather than an individual one. The philosophy of ISIK is to “heal and develop” the “whole”, or at least to assist for the purpose. As well as developing and improving our company’s status, while contributing the same for our country, there are about 550 farmers, cultivating 28.000 hectares of land in about 53 villages since 1991, with the aim to spread “Happy Villages” around Turkey.

Brief explanation on the activities of ISIK under “Happy Village” projects, are as below:

  1. As a part of “Crop Management” system, organizing the farmer training on growing, harvesting and drying techniques that will increase raw material quality,
  2. Guiding, providing and control of its farmers on the organic inputs to be used in accordance with the treatment schedule,
  3. Consulting the farmers by company Agronomists throughout the year,
  4. Performing necessary activities to improve the socio-economic structure of those villages, i.e., the needs and requirements of the children at school, sports, clubs and etc.

ISIK tries to get national and international funds to perform all these activities, like an EC funded project, namely “SMAP-Promoting Sustainable Use of Agricultural Land Through the Introduction of Organic Farming Methods", under which following activities are carried out:

  • 476 farmers have been trained with an average of 7,33 hours;
  • Agronomists traveled 58,300 kms for the training and consultancy to the farmers, with a total of  392,5 days;
  • By this project, the total number of farmers and field area have been increased by 66 and 214%, respectively.
